Default Suspension Help

Hello,
I have a question. I just got some Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks and H&R race springs for my CRX. This was my first suspension install and I think I did something wrong. When I was finishing up putting together the damper and spring I forgot to put the dust cover in place on the right side only. Well when I lowered the car down the top part of the damper started to come threw the damper mounting base. This happened only on the side I forgot to install the dust cover. I took everything back off and installed it. I havent done the back yet so its sitting. It got me to thinking. Is the dust cover the only thing preventing the damper from coming up threw the hood? Have I forgotten to install something? The only parts I used with the shocks where the top side nut and mounting washer. I didnt use the mounting collar because the existing one seemed to work fine. Other than those parts there wasnt anything else. Can anyone help me with some info please? Thanks

D.

Ok, i was looking in my helms. Is the dust cover plate what prevents the strut from rising threw the top of the tower?

its good you recognized there was something wrong with your installation. the shock should NOT be popping thru your top mount.

youre missing #12. #9 is the dust cover plate, buts thats not necessary. #12 is mandatory. its shaped to fit the taper of the shock rod. it MUST be installed.
