all it is is a resistor that "tricks" ur ecu into thinking the air intake charge is colder and it advances ur timing. Its a really bad idea since the timing is advanced and then the ecu also uses air intake temp for a timing reference. Hotter air is more prone to leading to detonation thats y a intercooler is used on a forced induction setup and a cooler charge also creates more power due to it being denser and having more oxygen.
