Correct. It comes with the antenna and the interconnect cable. Plugs into the blue port on the back of the deck, then you stuff that tuner in the dash somewhere, connect the antenna, and you're done.

Hmmm....

Do you happen to know if the units that are "portable" use a headphone jack to send the signal to the deck?
I'm already using the aux on my deck for my mp3 player.

The new plug and play units use a wireless fm modulator to transmit signal to the deck. Power up, and tune the radio to 88.7 or whatever frequency you choose and it plays.

Edit* They do, however, also have an "audio out" which could be connected to an aux-in adapter for cleaner sound. You can use 2 things on one aux-in adapter by getting some y-cables.

Either way would work for you...

the PIONEER SIR-PNR1 is a direct connection, no fm modulator. the pioneer unit still has the extra aux in port, so you can still use your aux in adaptor. is your head unit a 2005 model? does it say sat ready or xm ready?

Thanks for pointing that out, although that's not what he was asking... If you read the post above my post (that you quoted), you'd see that he asked about the "portable" units....

The SIR-PNR1 will work with that deck just fine.

Main question was using the direct connect unit since I am already using the aux port on the back of the deck for my mp3 player.

I asked about the portable units because if they have the headphone jacks I can use the same connection I am using for my mp3 player with one of the sirius units

In addition to the wireless fm mod, they usually have an "audio out" as well.

I have gotten very conlicting information on the pioneer SIR-PNR1. I have a honda accord 2004 2 door coupe with the original radio/cd/sat ready unit. I would realy like to switch to sirius, but without a "plug and play" fm modulator type unit. I want it to be hidden and not have wires all over. Anyway, i was told yesterday by a car audio installer that that item will never work. I was sure i was on the right track, can you please verify with me that this will work, and if you have installed one already? thanks

That installer was correct. It won't work with your '04 Accord's factory head unit.

the PNR in the part number means its compatible with a pioneer, they use a specific type of plug for their aftermarket radios called ip-bus which is what the sir pnr1 uses to get the signal and communicate.
it will work in your car if you purchase a pioneer radio.
I have done a number of integrations with the factory radio in the new accords and they never really sound that good, I would suggest buy a new radio anyway. then you can have what you described, no wires and a clean install.

the sir pnr1 will work fine with a p860mp, I have sold that combo plenty of times, i think the only hitch is some of the 04 860s dont display the sirius logo on the left of the screen.

Thank you both for your help! I think i have two options, purchase a new radio that will be capable of getting sirius; or go with an fm modulator external unit. the only part that you lost me on was the :

Is the p860mp a radio model that will work well with my accord, and your opinion is that it would be a good choice to purchase, or something else?
