Default y8 ecu work with a y7 engine?

like the title says will a y8 ecu work with a y7 engine? or will i need to get the non-vtec ecu?

You'll throw codes and it'll run like ****. Get a non-vtec ECU.

As Kendall said - it'll run. It'll run like ***, but it'll run. You'll have a code or three...but it'll run.

So if you can live with the above, then no, you don't 'need' the Y7 ECU.
