Default OK, maybe it's silly

...but lately I've been noticing in some of the engine pics that the stock airbox looks cool.

I remember six years ago when I bought my first intake (a RS Akimoto "funnel-ram," ha-ha-ha!) thinking that it looked so much cooler, and then, not much later, the AEM CAI when that went on looked pretty cool too. I'm not talking about reasons to buy them, BTW, just remembering looking at them once installed, thinking, "That looks cool [/Butthead]."

But these days I think its cool-looking to have a JDM 4-1 with heatshields, a stock airbox, and a super-clean stock-looking motor. It seems that there are advantages too in having a stock appearance to your motor, most obviously to attract less attention at inspection time.

Yeah...I sometimes want to go back to the stock airbox or get an icebox. I just can't live without the AEM CAI at the moment.

you know you have been in the Honda scene for a long time when:
You remember:
the AKimoto and then the Akimoto II
Brospeed Headers and exhausts
JG or DPR
SCC as a QUARTERLY Rag...yep and half of it was NOPI ads
Seriously, though, with a good filter, the stock box is not bad at all.

j00 mean they don't make Brospeed chit anymore??

Pat, who shudders to admit that he ordered an Akimoto intake for his Accord (but returned that piece of chit for an AEM)

Heh-heh.

I remember when having a GS-R dumped on eibachs with an Akimoto, DC headers and a Trust SP was a really cool ride. Maybe some PIAAs too. Like 1995/1996. Damn, things have changed a lot since then.

I remember my Gude equipped fire breathing 1st gen Integra. I could keep up with my dads GSR...although he would not admit it then or now...LOL.

Back then, people had to import clear corners. However in my high school, people had other alternatives. I've got two words, "COLORED VINYL". Red Honda badges were $50 each from Japan. There were no aftermarket alternatives. People liked having racing stripes. They were either down the middle of the car, off center down the car, or diagonally across the sides of the car. Anyone remember "Super Touring" and having huge *** numbers on the sides of cars? Also cut springs were the thing back then since quite a few people couldn't afford aftermarket springs since there weren't any crappy ones from crappy brands since there was only Sprint, Eibach, H&R, Neuspeed, and Suspension Techniques. There were some others, but no one really knew about them. Oh yea, back then whoever had springs got Neuspeed race. People mainly sported Sebring mufflers and custom Ultraflo exhausts. The people who had extra money would get a GReddy SP so they'd have an excuse to sport the big *** "TRUST" logo on their windshield. RS*R exhausts with the slant angle tip (looks like the stock ITR's and GSR's), were the sh*t. Super Street was still a brand new magazine. Ten second Hondas were considered ungodly and there was only one that existed, David Shih's silver bullet CRX. o_O

I dunno if these sound familar to some of you guys who kept up with "teams". Cyber Racing, Wicked Racing, and Team Kosoku.
