Default so i ordered this "d16z6" throttle body off ebay...

i recently ordered a throttle body off ebay for 17.50 shipped to me. the seller said it's from a d16z6

now i have a d15b8 so i have the TINY throttle body, and when i got this one in the mail i said "wow, this thing is HUGE"

i then pulled my micrometer out and....

62.05 mm

i thought only the itr was 62mm?

did i get lucky or is this normal for a d16z6 throttle body

yeah, it should be smaller then any b series. You may not have a d series throttle body at all.

did you measure the inlet or the outlet?. it may be tappered. the correct measurement would be the intake side.

lemme measure the other side too

60mm and that's where the bronze flat thing rests

but still, my friend d15b7 measured 58mm on the inlet.

little bit off topic here, but i have a 94 coupe with the b7, and was wondering how much power gains would get if i did the z6 IM swap just like bense is doing. and would it also have better gas mileage since its leaner?

He's not swapping the intake manifold, just the throttle body. If you can a larger throttle body and port match it to your intake manifold, it might help you. Unlikely it will be really noticeable though unless you're pushing some serious air through there.

i'm not even doing that. This is going to my d16y8 intake manifold, which is going to my d16y5 head, which is going to go on my d15b8 block (for now) and later is going to make it's way to a d16a6 block

i could care less on throttle body size, just not the cx/vx one. If you want more horsepower, go with boost. if you don't wanna boost, but wanna make your car faster, get some shorter gears

if you still don't wanna do that, get smaller wheels (higher final drive)
