Kind of a dumb answer.... Bentleys exist. But not everybody has one.

Everything comes down to price.

Get more horsepower, it'll make your gears seem shorter.

Matter of fact, I've heard it mentioned but if you can't get there in five gears one more isn't really going to help you that much more.

I'd like to have a 6 gear trans so I could put in a different final drive and not be doing 70@3500rpm.

I really want to change around my tranny a bit, but if I went with a shorter (I think shorter is what I would want) final drive then highway cruising would suck.

So stick an LS fifth gear in your car and call it a day. This isn't rocket science. See, had you come to this thread with the proper question, i.e. "How can I cruise at 80 at a lower RPM than my BXXXX tranny allows?" we could have helped you with a minimum of flaming.

Live and learn, noobie

Wrong guy. xtreme412 is the OP. I'm running a Z6 w/ Z6 trans. I am thinking about swapping to a different final drive and putting in a DX, CX, or LX 5th gear.

It was just a little mixup, I presume because he was looking at the avatars instead of the names.

We exchanged e-beers so there's no hard feelings, I hope...

Anyway, we're getting OT. I apologize.
