FSP auto-x setup
Alright y'all, coming to y'all for help here. I got a 96 civic dx and run ithe FSP class. My setup right now is
tein s-tech(that was the height that i wanted)
Illuminia struts
SRR rear sway bar pakage(i want to go bigger, maybe 27 mm)
205/50 15 victoracers
Now, times for y'alls input. I am trying to decide on the springs. I am planing on a set of revalved koni yellows with ground control springs but i haven't found out about spring rates. Any advice on the spring rates and length? What type of toes do y'all have set? And don't worry about driveability. I am have another driver so this is a weekend only car. Thanks y'all for any help

Lack of help?
We told you to search, we told you the differences between hatch and coupe won't make a hells worth of a difference and we aren't helpful.
Sorry did you expect us to build the car for you?

No, i was looking for ideas in the right direction and all i get was this BS. I am fully capable of building a car myself. I have helped build an ITS(i think that was the class) crx and i know there are differences between a hatchback and coupe, but i was trying to get different ideas of what y'all are running for spring rates and try and sift through that. Now if that was too hard i am sorry for taking up so9 much of y'alls time.

Garbage In, Garbage Out.
There's lots of good info here in the archives, including a post started by 'solo-x' on his new car (hatch), which has the same suspension setup as his old car (coupe) and its nationally competitive.

Do you have a rule book?
First read through the rule book. Make a list of all the modifications you are allowed. If you are serious you will fully prep the car for its class. There are a lot more things you can do in FSP than your list states.
One aspect of this sport is what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. A company like TEIN can make custom made rate springs for you. Koni yellows are the way to go if you don't mind spending the money. A bigger rear bar is better. Remove the front bar, it'll reduce understeer.
Now, before we get deeper into this... where is that list of allowed mods. And a hatch vs a coupe doesn't have that much of a difference.

no kidding. the range of setups in STS at nats this year was mind boggling. same for FSP.

guess my psychic powers aren't working very good. i don't see anywhere in this first post where you mention your car is a coupe.

if you wanted ideas to point you in the right direction, why would you then throw out setup information for hatchbacks? is that not an "idea" that would point you in the right direction?

Actualy i know there are much more things i can do for the FSP class. I got beat this weekend at FL state championships, i ened up 2nd, by a 71 dautsan 510(fully prepped) so i wanna step it up and go further. I was planning on getting some ideas along the spring rates. I have have been doing some research and know that the koni/GC setup seems to be favored but i wanted some ideas from people on what they run. I had already taken out any idea for a front sway bar and luckly dx's didn't come with one.
Like i said, i like to read up on what people have and how they do so that search featured and the stickies at the top i have read. I just like to gather as much info as possible.
As for the HB vs coupe, i have driven a stock hatch for coupe(both where stock dx's) and i could honestly fell the difference. The coupe seemed a little more tail HB seemed a little more tail happy to me and the coupe i could perdict more when the backend started coming around hence my decision for a coupe over HB. Once i get my sus straightned out, my v700 are gone, replaced with some v710's but what size yet, i don't know. It is all a work in progress.
Sorry, ithought i mentioned coupe on the first post, my bad. Please forgive
And i was reading you posts solo-x on your susp setup. It did give me some ideas.

how is asking us to repeat ourselves going to get you any more information? we've already discussed this before. asking the same question again will get the same answers. come to us with a unique problem, present it well, be open to suggestions and you'll get a more specific response. "what y'all runnin" is web-speak for "i'm too lazy to think on my own, or to do any research on my own. please spoon feed me what i want, even though i don't know what exactly it is that i want."
here is a better way to present your question and get the answer you seem to be looking for. try this, "i see from looking at the nationals results from the last 2 yrs. that Alan Kugler has been doing really well with his FSP civic. Does anyone know what his setup is (springs/swaybars/shocks/alignment)? i've also seen a lot of setup information for crx's, ef hatches, and 5th gen hatches/coupes but very little for the 6th gen cars. will a setup similar to what is on these cars work well on a 6th gen coupe?". now we know that you've done your research and you need some help filling in the blanks. (getting alan's setup is tough, even for those that know him) further, you've presented a legitimate question that hasn't had hundreds of multipage threads to discuss it in.

With your results during the FL State Championship Event, I'd concentrate on driving before worrying about your spring rates. "2nd place" doesn't say much when the winner of FSP is over 2 seconds behind E-stock... and is "fully prepared", which it's not.
I'd take an EVO school, and continue doing as many local events as possible, before worrying about car setup just yet.

Very generally speaking a good starting point is in the 400f/600r range. There are a lot of factors aside from just the spring rate but that should give you a reference point.
Along with those shocks Koni is a popular good choice but if you can afford it adjustable length shock bodies are very nice.
IMO 205 tires are too skinny for the front of a FWD car. The common choice in SP is to go as small diameter (because you can't change gear ratios except for update-backdate) and wide as you can go for your drive wheels.
For now don't get caught up in the details about your car and look at general setup strategies. Honda or not, hatch or coupe, red or blue, it doesn't really matter.
