Default Wheels for EP3 (02 Civic Si)

New to this forum, and just recently purchased (used) a Civic Si with stock tires/wheels. Looking to upgrade, and any opinions on the best type of Wheels for this model?? (i.e. 16", 17", and optimal off-set)

If you want performance, stick with smaller size wheels like 15s or 16s. Lighter weight rims & sticky tires combined with a lowered suspension greatly improves the ep's handling abilities. 1 possibility you could look into are 15x7 wheels with 225-50-15 tires, dropped on a Honda Factory Performance or Mugen sports suspension kit and an installed DC5 22mm rear sway bar. Rota makes a bunch of 15x7 rims which are cost-friendly.

Personally, I think 16's look the best on the EP-3, and they don't really hinder performance.

16's for civic's and integra's..
17's for Accord's and preludes and RSX's...

stay stock and go suspension first.

Control > Power > Styling

but that's just me.

what good is power if you can't control and put it down on the road, right?

So 17" inch rims on the ep3 arent a good idea if im going to be racing? What would you suggest? Are r1-gtr 10 rims any good? i was also thinking about Riax Seca and ADR sokudo, konig trouble? I want a high gloss black rim with a silver lip. Let me know if you have any suggestions or comments! Also if someone could help me out with what good tires are, i was thinking about toyo proxies, pirelli pzeros, bfgoodrich g-force...? thanks!

The stock head does not officially have an aux input, but there are adapters that use the empty CD changer socket. Quick way to do it would be to get a P.I.E. audio input adapter. Logjam Electronics sells them, and so does Crutchfield.

The EP3 is a relatively recent Honda design, and it was released in the UK and Europe with 17" wheels with 215-50-17 tyres as OEM.

The 15" wheels on the USDM cars are a peculiarity to this market.

There's a wealth of tyres available in 15" and 17", but fewer good tyres in good sizes in 16", IMHO.

I think really that in choosing 17" you just have to look at your budget and consider it in relation to what kind of racing you're talking about. What is it you have in mind?

I think you're absolutely right George. For a really good performance tire, there is very little available in the sizes necessary for the EP3 in 16".
