Default Springs and shocks vs coilover steups...questions

Im about to revamp the suspension on my DA and i was wondering are there any advantages(besides adjustable ride height) that coilovers have over springs? Which will ride better?

Im looking to spend about 700 total for either springs/shocks or a coilover setup

What are some other bang for the buck suspension mods?

Usually "lowering spirngs" will ride nicer since they have a progressive spring rate. Coilovers usually have a linear spring rate that can be a little more harsh for street driving, but they will be more predictable when pushed to the limits...
