question about turbo d16y7
is boosting a d16y7 reliable?? i want my d16y7 to be faster instead of a swap but im scared of blowing the engine or whatever could happen if i boost it...this is also my daily driver and prolly will be for years and years to come...my mileage on the motor just hit the 70k point
...what do you guys think?? anyone with a boosted d16y7 that can tell me their experience??

i have a turbo d, and it's working fine, but if do decide to turbo your d, make sure you get it tuned. thats the most important part of it. other than that it should run fine, im about at 4k on my turbo, with 110,xxx on the motor, runs strong. there is always a chance of blowing ur motor, but if its a daily driver, just leave it at 5-7 psi. Mines a daily driver also.
i have a y7. Not really much a difference if you just want a daily driver. I'll give you my setup.

i put a greddy turbo kit on a stock y7 with a cometic headgasket and 370 injectors and tuned it with a saf-c. i drove it hard as hell maxed with 18 lbs of boost. 233 whp and 201 tq. drove it like that for like year and a half sold the motor still running to some kid. you should be fine

I'm actually finishing my setup today and I can't wait, y7's have no potential being NA especially. Turbo is the way to go, and the motors are so damn cheap to come by if you blow one, cause everybody is trying to get rid of them to do swaps. The only problem that I came by was when I did the OBD1 conversion was that the IACV is different and I had to get the 5spd y8 manifold with the 2 wire IACV on the back. Chipped ecu is the way to go in the end, better tunability.
18 lbs of boost, with no forged internals??!?!? i'm really surprised you didnt blow your motor. and at 14 psi im making more hp and tq then you, do you even know what your talking about? and you cant tune it with saf-c alone, you need to go to a tuner to change the boost to 18 lbs. Unless you have hondata or another similar program, you cant change the boost, so you were running 18 lbs for 18 months? bs....

yes i have a avc-r, and i couldnt change the boost, until i got a hondata s200 program to be able to go on 3 boost settings. Just strapping on a boost controller doesnt let you change the boost buddy.

i previously had a b16 turbo, but some lucky s.o.b. stole my car. i really think if your gonna have a daily driver a d series is better cuz its cheaper to replace the engine. My other car is Vortech Supercharged g35 w/ 9 psi pulley.

hey dan the man, *** yourself. hows that you hating son of a bitch, i was running it. just to show how retarted you are its called a missing link and a safc theres 18 lbs of boost and greddy turbos arnt that big...so ya i had no forged internals. your a f*cking idiot
real mature, but ne wayz, sry if I offended you, but just post sum specs, dyno sheets, anything to back your point, 15g kit, 16g, 19g kit? wat greddy kit you talking about? they are all pretty big if your gonna be pushing 18 psi. And go to forced induction section, cuz everyone who runs stock only goes to 10-12 max. Its really hard going 18 psi, and if your turbo is small, its common knowledge at top end your turbo would explode from spooling too fast. Im not saying you can't be pushing 18, but its really hard to believe that for 1 1/2 years you could be pushing that even for alittle and not blow ur motor. Go ask anyone on forced induction section.
i have a dyno chart but im new to this **** and i gotta figure out how to post it.....it was just the greddy single cam kit...little turbo not sure the specs
