Default Question regaring MPG

I was just wondering which mods increase your MPG? Do bolt-ons such as I/H/E? If not, what does then? Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Lightening your right foot will improve gas mileage the most.

You won't be going that slow once you reach 4th and 5th gear though. I get funny looks cause I usually shift at 3.1K rpms.

ya quite the same...i shift at around 3grand, mainly because the civic gas tank is really small. the b18c5 motor is pretty efficient though when you keep it out of VTEC during ur daily driving. One thing I positively dread though is going on the highway...at 120km/h im usually at around 4grand..hence my perpensity to stay at 100km/h (or the legal speed limit )

I regularly get 33mpg highway at 70 - 75mph, 20 - 21mpg around town with a heavy foot, and 11mpg at a track event. Not bad for a car with this kind of performance.

Intake and exhaust mods will improve your fuel econmoy. That is if you drive the same as you did before the mods were installed.

Just put the car in neutral when coming to a stop. By minimizing engine braking, my MPG has increased tremendously.

The fuel injectors are off (at certain rpm range) while coasting with your foot off of the pedal.

Right you are Will ...should be ~1300 rpm and under where the computer starts adding fuel back into the cylinders.

what are some good techniques for increasing gas mileage?
keep the revs under 3,000 when shifting...
minimize changing the throttle position while at speed...
drafting other cars/trucks...

Driving a Volvo (several of them) you learn to save as much fuel as you can.

Barn door shape = drafting makes a big difference.

Drafting does work.

Also, coating in neutral probably uses MORE gas since you are burning fuel to stay at ~idle rpm. You probably save more gas by coasting IN gear, besides, it can be dangerous cruising around in neutral because you can't suddenly apply power and change direction or whatever....

As stated, short-shift and make gradual throttle changes. Anticipate slowing down (red lights, traffic), so you don't brake too hard and waste momentum.
