FI is good; but you would need to beef up your setup to handle added pressures, stress and temp. Gaskets, Sleeves, Pistons, rods, cams, underdrive pulley, ignition module, injectors, exhaust.. all feasable upgrades for any d series. If your going to run FI have it done right...
You could always go get a sports injection kit.... you can modify your exsisting intakemanifold to resemble something like TODA's sports injection kit. This kit retails for 2500$; however i've seen copys on H-T that boast similar gains in HP and Tourque. Imagine each cylinder has its own intake valve.. producing more whp by letting off the resriction of vacumed air pressure and heat from the engine.
You can custom build a turbo kit for your car for 400$ and up
Decide how much you want to spend and what kind of work you willing to do

Says you.
There have been many na d series making great power, just like most na applications it costs money for mild power gains. If you want to be NA d-series I say go for it, I just hope your pockets are deep. If you go FI that will yield you the most power for the money PERIOD.

exactly why i said n/a on a D is not worth it. i never said they cant make great power, i just said its not worth it

depends what you want to do...d-series is a great daily driver and yeah b-series is a monster at producing amount of horsepower..

Much like na b or f or h series...it necessitates deep pockets. Your point=not proven.

im going n/a d16y7/with y8 mini-me, im going to be pushing 150, and i have a 96 cx, so once all is in and i get a new clucth, fly, and y8 tranny, with a little bit of weight reduction.......i should be able to hit high, i mean high 13's, but thats all i want, sleeper, sleeper, sleeper, its all about the headwork, the only thing that anyone will see will be a password intake, and a jg edlebrock intake mani, i have dc sports header covers by a make shift heatshield, which looks stock, and im running kteller exhaust with stock muffler and a resonator, now who is going to think that car will hit 13's, wish me luck
the entire set-up is going to cost me about 1500 bucks, everything said and done, only a little bit more expensive than a reliable d turbo, plus an na d is way more reliable, if you think about it, its like having a 1500 b18c5 swap, stock of course, but less weight and the same hp
so if i put high compression pistons in a d16y7 block with the y8 head i should have more compression for the lower end and put a crowler adjustable cam in for the top end i should be able to keep up with b16's right?
with the set-up im talking about, i would be able to "keep" up with c5's, stock.....but if they have a few minor upgrades, they will win, but stock vs. my set-up would come down to car, driver, weight and so on
