Automatic tranny question? *searched*
Ok, people this is my first time posting in accord section and i don't know much aobut accords, well here's the deal a buddy of mine that works with me has a 94 accord lx i believe it's a 4 door that he would sell my dad for 1500 as a daily driver, the problem is the car is automatic and he said that the tranny is slipping, can i fix this or do i need a new tranny? if i need a new tranny what are the prices on them, i don't know much about automatics or accords i'm civic/integra person, so any help would be appreciated, thanks
Basically, what applys to your Civic/Integra knowledge applys to the Accord as well.
I would ask if the prior owner ever had the transmission fluid flushed (NOT JUST DRAINED/REFILLED)? If he has not, keep that in mind but ROAD TEST IT YOURSELF to confirm the condition.
$ Used transmission w/11,000m:
1 year warranty $1750.00 (Woodfins')
2 year warranty $1820.00 (Woodfins')
Local Salvage Yard w/30 day warranty: $600.00 / $1000.00

I'll most likely catch it for this (deserthonda likes to see what I'm up to), but you could probably figure on (about 5.5 hours x (times) the shop's PREVAILING LABOR RATE).
One point (however) - you're getting ahead of yourself. Find out if it needs a tranny first.
Second Point: If you do elect the have the tranny changed out, have the shop procure the Transmission and do the installation. Reason?
When you supply the part, They won't cover the labor to install the second unit.

how would i know if it needs a tranny or just that fluid? i aint good with automatics man never owned one in my life, i did drive family's automatics but never owned one
First, ask that "buddy of Mine" if he ever had the Trans Fluid Flushed. At that age, it should have been done a 'half dozen times.
This is one of those "crap shoot" things where you have the flush done and then re-evaluate the trans. (and take it from there)
