Default B-Series transmission question

OK guys, I did a search but could not find the info I was looking for. Hopefully there is a transmission guru out there that will know the answer to my question.

I currently have an H3 GSR Integra. I want to swap in a B18B LS engine/transmission to join the ever growing H4 class (I'm tired of running alone in H3). The question I have is relating to the LSD. I curently have a Quaife LSD in the GSR and would like to put it in the LS tranny. According to the Quaife website the GSR and LS have different part numbers. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two and is there a way to make the GSR LSD fit in the LS tranny with just a few tricks that would still be legal? I am thinking of changing the final drive as well at the time so would this open any opportunities to using the GSR LSD in the LS tranny?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Erik

As long as you put the final drive( or a ITR) and the input shaft from the GSR( or ITR) into the LS tranny the GSR/ITR Quaiffe will work fine.
Good Luck

The differential from the GSR will fit the LS box but will have to be mated with a ring gear from a GSR or ITR as they have a different bolt pattern from the LS diff. The corresponding COUNTERSHAFT not input shaft from a GSR/ITR will have to be used as well. the good thing is that there are better final drive ratio's available for the GSR differntial that you have 4.40, 4.7, 4.9 etc...

OK, I see. Sounds easy enough.

But, is it honda challenge legal to mix and match parts from the GSR and LS engine? I know the gear ratios between the LS and GSR are different so as long as I put the LS gears on the GSR shaft it should fit, work, and be legal? The final drive is not an issue legally because they are open in the rules.

Thanks again for all your help guys!

Yes, this will work fine since both the LSD and final drive gears are open in the rulebook. I have a ITR LSD in my LS trans with a 4.9 final drive - no problems

Thanks again guys. This is why Honda-Tech rocks!

OK, now I'm off to buy a GSR spec final drive... $$$

Wish me luck on the tranny rebuild.

why don't you just put the ls 3rd and 4th and 5th gears in the gsr tranny?

seems like you're way out of you way just to do all that

gsr and ls have the same 1st / 2nd gearing...

If you need a 4.4 ring and countershaft, I have one.
