installed new starter. car won't start
well, I took my starter to autozone and it failed. I have a jdm b16 siR II and I did a search and someone said they used a 99 si starter on their 1st gen b16 and it worked. I tried it and it didn't fit. the screws were off by 1 millimeter. they typed in the part number that was on my starter but they didn't have it in stock. he looked up a gsr starter which they had, so I tried that one. it fits, but when I go to start the car, nothing happens. no click, nothing. with jumper cables attached, still nothing, not even clicking from the starter. im pretty sure it's hooked up right. I took a volt meter to the pos and neg on the starter and it shows power. only 12v though. the starter is tight to the tranny. help please.

there are 3 terminals on your starter bat term motor term and s switch from ignition, you nned power ats switch to bet power at b terminal to transfer to motor terminal, the b term and motor term work in conjunction from disc inside your solenoid. if that makes sense to you you should be able to figure out, also check your neutral safety relay, locates in your s switch wire or manual be sensor under your clutch pedal

Why don't you see if you have a starter signal coiming into the starter. CHeck at the female plug that goes into the starter. I am betting that the clutch switch pad broke. If the clutch switch isn't pressed, you have no signal to the starter so nothing will happen, no engine turning, no clicking, nothing.
