-=One perspective about recent thefts=-
I want to start off my stating that I really enjoy this forum. I visit everyday for reading and every so often I will give some of my thoughts back. Now on to what I really would like to say. I want to state that I feel some of the details in some of the threads may help thieves “see” what they are getting while they plan their heist. I am not talking about only professional thieves either, as amateur thieves will have enough info from some of the threads to know exactly what they are getting into. Take for example the recent thread “Post your CLEAN ENGINE BAY PICS here!!” How nice is this for thieves to “see” a list of cars with lots of expensive engine modifications all in one place to they can pick what their next job could be, even the amateurs might not be able to resist the temptation of some of the work that goes into some of these engines. So, what is my point? I think my in an ideal world I wish we could have our R’s safe and sound without any worry to their livelihood. We have come to the realization, however, that our R’s are a prime target for theft. So I would only like to caution those who post to the “My ***** is bigger than yours” or “Lets see all the nice *****’” threads to think about how many brother and sister R’s have been stolen from this board. How many times have we seen a recent post of what someone just finished on their R then a week or more later the dreaded post of “AnotheR one bites the dust”?
I love this board and will continue to read on a daily basis. Long live the R’s

great perspective...
i agree w/ 98typer896.
one thing that shocked me was how that thread talking about how to break into an integra was NOT locked! seemed like everyone jumped in and gave "step-by-step-directions" on how to break in. no good...
simply put...a theif could just read that thread and break in to any integra they see on the street...again...no good.
may your R's stay safe!!!

the thread was allowed to stay because the mods, rightly so, realized that thieves already had the info they needed, which is why so many cars were being stolen. The ones who don't have that info, but need it, are the ITR owners whose cars are getting jacked.
i see where ur comming from but a lot of people already know about my R and where i live (including theives), so ppl on this board are the least of my worries....
My first R was stolen before I ever posted on this board. At least I now have suggestions and knowledge about protecting my second one.
Anyone else wire a Tazer into the bottom of their driver's seat?

i see what you guys mean.
i actually didn't follow the entire thread so probably didn't get the full intention; to "ejyoomacate" (slang) the owners on how their cars are so easily stolen. i guess all that discussion in the other thread was aimed at what the *obvious* deficiencies in the integra, w/ regards to security, are.
but i think specific security mods should stay in the private areas (im, personal e-mail, etc.) so that any theives wandering the board won't pick these "hints" up from the actual owner of the car.
this is good stuff btw!

I think you are all too paranoid. And if a thief wants my car that bad, fine, take it. I have insurance for a reason.

Also.....after few claims on your insurance record ( most stay for 3 years +) your insurance rate will go sky high (even you have no points in your driving record).
At the worst, no insurance company will want to write you a policy......
a feeling of losing something is bad !!
