mounting a motor tilted?
I've been looking a few competetion cars and noticed a few have the motors tilted forward and wondered the reasoning behind this..
The main reason for asking is I want to tube the front of my car and make solid mounts up for the car aswell, but I don't really wanna mount it all up if there is something to be gained from tilting it forward..
I guess it aids the axle angles so you can lower the car further, but what other benefits are there and what needs to be done to the motor if it is tilted? dry sump etc etc??
Thanks for any help i can get...

i moved my engine so that the axles were in line with the hube and horizontal when sitting at ride height. this should not abuse the axles quite as bad.
The only benefit of tilting the motor forward would be to get a better axle alignment on lowered chassis's. There are disadvantages though. On most cases a dry sump will be needed and a vaccum pump for the turbo drain will be needed. Since the motor is tilted forward oil in the pan will also be moved forward and most likely cover the drain hole for the turbo. The oil pickup will possibly fail due to the oil moving forward and possibly allowing air to enter the lines. IMO, its alot of work and money for just alittle more axle alignment.

Another advantage is weight ratio. Putting the bulk of the motor in front of the axle, instead of over it, will act like a leverage point applying more weight to the front of the car, aiding in traction and weight ratios, front to back. I know it made a big difference when we corner scaled my car!
