Not very experienced with HID kits though maybe wait for some more responses, I'm sure somebody can help you!

I don't think they would get any hotter than a standard halogen. But I could be wrong. I could see if the bulb was sitting on the lens, it might melt, but it's going to be very close to the distance of the halogen. I am not sure if HIDs get hotter or not, but I wouldn't think it would melt the lens, even if they were a little hotter.

H.I.D bulbs burn cooler than halogen light and also produce more light. The lens on the USDM DA lights are glass and the fogs are plastic. I dont know about the JDM ones though

Mine are JDM ITRs which come OE with HIDS, no melting,

But yours are already ruined with those 12000k, those are probably worse than stock halogens.

oh and i was told jdm lights are technically illegal in the us because they point a bright light into oncoming drivers...espically with HIDS

any J spec headlamps are set up for RHD, halogen or HID...since their oncoming traffic lanes pass on their right.

most things that say "not meant for HID" say that because they have grooves in teh lense that are made to deflect light in the right direction. HID headlights don't need this because of the beam. if you ever point HID's at a wall there should be a razor sharp line of where the light stops. if there are any grooves in the lense the HID beam will be disrupted and could cause the beam to be projected into oncoming traffic.
