Default For those of you curious about a GSR in a CRX w/ and w/o ZEX...

We just finished a friends CRX Si with a '99 GSR motor, cable B16 clutch (sticker is gone so I don't know which tranny), Skunk2 IM, DC header, straight through exhaust, back half stripped out, AC ripped out. He ran a 14.6 off the bottle but we were having problems with the shift linkage from the previous owner that kept binding up and hitting the exhaust whenever we were speed shifting down the track. With the bottle it ran a 12.9 at around 100mph. This was on slicks. This was also using the 55 shot setup on the ZEX system.

Hopefully that answers some of the wondering others had had.

are you sure that it's not a LS tranny. I would think that you could get better times off the bottle.

the owner ran it off the bottle had more of the problems with shifting it than a friend of mine who drove it with the bottle. trust me, the shifting is crap in it right now. Supposedly the guy that got him the tranny said it was a b16 but we are suspecting it may be an LS. He was at the end of 4th gear before reaching the traps and having to coast through so there is another problem we are trying to solve too. I have a J1 tranny I'm not using right now so I may let him borrow it for a bit.

There is a quick and dirty way to find out which tranny you have. In fifth gear on the highway, what is your MPH at 4k?

I'll try and do that in the next day or so.

well i have a 97 usdm gsr in my crx, and my best time is 14.5(with bad 3rd gear syncro) and a crappy *** header. But if he was at sealevel then yeah he should be a bit closer to 14.0, but not that much. And as for the tranny, i dont think its an ls tranny because u would be finishing the traps at 3rd gera not 4th. As for me i have a s1 tranny and i finnish it at the begining of 4th. but damn a 12.9 on a 55 shot, thats hella tight. I think im gonna spray on my **** too.....good post by the way.

Yes, an LS tranny will let you finish the 1/4 in 3rd- about 7200rpm in 3rd.
4th = J1/S1/Y1, unless he was keeping it under 6K rpms in the LS tranny.
