Default Summit Point weekend wrap-up.

Friday track time saw a ZR1 in turn 9 tyres and Miata in 10 gravel trap.....Sat and Sun were picture perfect.

"Windy" and "chilly" were key phrases for the weekend right after, "Give me another beer".

Thanks to all that helped.

Thanks for nothing to all those that said they would show and didn't

except for Jon, I figured you got busy and Ryan, hope you get better soon.

Few lessons learned this weekend:

~ F-body driving rednecks can get roadhead from cute girls on I-81 @ 95mph.
~ Johnny Trann showed his riced out GSR face this weekend but was gone before we had the chance to beat him down with a NOS bottle.
~ SP tow truck can drift on the skid pad
~ Weaver brakes suck asssssss
~ Bushlight 30-pack is the best deal for canned beer thus far $13.19
~ C5 Vette's will not got into reverse @ 120mph.
~ An uncorked S4 sounds pretty damn good.
~ "Pushing cloth" is now an offical NC trademark.

true... true

Gotta hate renting a Caterham and driving in weather like Sunday's.
can you say BURRRR?

Gotta love seeing back-up lights going by the flag stand at Summit....

Bill Scott gave a presentation on Saturday (at lunch time) about the new "Shenandoah circuit". W0W!
Looks like it will be a winner.... lots of turns and (quick/steep) elevation changes (~15% in some places). The one section of the track that is modeled after a turn at the "Ring" will be a blast to drive thru (~6% banking). I think those #'s are correct... but don't hold me to them. I can't wait till the opening weekend!

He has "approval" to construct... not sure about the schedule. I think that getting the approval was the main issue.

Lots of political work has taken place during the planning of the new track...

Tree removal and grubbing is done.
The centerline stakes (I think) have been installed.

He talked for ~45 min. about the issues involved with construction and the hurdles that he has faced.

There is a new name!
SPARC = Summit Point Automotive Research Center

It will be ~2.1/2.2 mile track with very interesting track configurations that would be available once the work is complete. The preliminary plans seem to be very well done.

Yack, I'm really sorry I couldn't make it. I didn't end up going to that wedding in MD (the event that was going to put me in the area on Sat, so I could come to SP on Sun). I'm trying to get all my normal **** done *and* get ready for Sebring, ya know...

Anyway- I'll catch up with you punks next time for sure. It sounds like it was a good event, despite the weather and various agricultural investigations. So, congratulations!

Jon
