FR traction bars and i still have wheel hop, Please help
Alright to get the basics out the way i have a 00 Si and have had the full-race traction bars on for over a year. I bought the strip bars when they were just coming out and loved them. Wheel hop seemed to go away i just got wheel spin. Since i have upped my whp i noticed that wheel hop has come back to plague me. It got so bad that i broke my differental about 3 months ago which i replaced with a quaife lsd and at the same time went with gator stage 2 axles. before the install of the traction bars i did the motor mount install thing, i have a decent suspension, Tokico illumiuns i think my weak point is my springs which are the tein s-techs. I am looking to find a pair of GSR LCAs so the traction bars are mounted to the lca itself and not the shock fork. Can someone get me in a right location were to look at to end this problem? Should i upgrade to a poly. bushings or change my shock and spring setup which i think would eliminate the wheel bouncing. Thanks
its definately your tein springs! i have had the same results with tein springs. go with a softer spring and poly bushings and that should fix your problem.
Well i dont think a softer spring is what i need. But next early spring I am getting a nice coilover shock set up, either the Tein or a custom German made setup that a local honda race shop made.

well never said you dont know what your talking about. So what differance would a softer spring make. You know just cause i dont post much here doesnt mean i am a newb to this scene. Give me something technical to work with and ideas that are explained. And you just said softer spring, ok what brand of spring, I was looking to go with a Eibach spring maybe the prokit or the other one and raise the car alittle and get axle drive angle alittle more correct.

when your springs are to stiff your wheels will deflect up and down instead of back and forth. when you have a softer spring you will get rid of this problem. im just telling you what works. why dont you call full-race im sure they will give you a more technical explanation of whats goin on. im not even gonna get into it.

then why did you post in the first place? i'm running an 850lb front spring and on street tires with lots of camber i can pull down high 2.1 60' times. i get no wheelhop at all. the only bushing i've replaced is the rear lower a-arm bushing. i used a mugen hard rubber bushing there. before i did that there was a little wheelhop, now there is none. all of my other bushings and engine mounts are stock with 115k miles on them.

you told him he needed softer springs. you never said why, and when he asked you told him you didn't want to tell him. further, i've a case that directly contradicts what you claim. care to elaborate on why a softer spring is better? maybe how it will actually reduce wheel hop? my guess is that you don't know why but don't want to loose face by defending your claim with a lame argument. if you're gonna make claims on chit, make sure you are willing to defend them. i hate internet bandwagoning and BS posts with no sound reasoning behind them. thus i called you out.
nate - is pretty sure l-con will come back but in the meantime suggest you ignore his posts
ps. care to elaborate on those traction bars a bit? (pm me once you do, i don't spend much time in this forum) i assume from your gsr lca comment that they connect to the rear suspension and extend out the back of the car. if so, i'd seriously look into my front lca bushings, motor mounts, and ball joints and make sure everything is in sound mechanical condition before throwing money at the problem.
