Default 12.2 pass then boom! tranny

I made a 12.2 pass at 122mph on 24.5x13 mh slicks on 9psi and launched at 5000. the car pulled me forward pass the tree then bogged between 1st and 2nd, my 60ft was 1.9. So i went to the pit and lowered my tires to 8lbs and increased my rear to 60lbs. At the line i reved up to 7200 so i could get a lower 60ft I was in a hurry to stage and did not preload the clutch then as soon as the light turn green boom my tranny took a ****. it was a stock gsr with open diff and stock axel. i don't understand how my Axel's are fine but my tranny has a big chunk missing from the diff exploding? now my ? is i have another tranny now and im going to purchase a quife lsd, with that is there any thing else i can do to the tranny while its open to make sure i don't blow a hole in this one?

there are other things you need to do, to prevent this from happening! check your axle alignment, you want them as straight as possible(you might need to raise or lower the car to get them as straight as possible). if using stock mounts, use inserts or just buy hasport mounts to keep your engine from rocking! get an lsd, quaife will be the one to get! good luck!

My ride height is close to stock (so that i can fit the slicks) and i have the whole energy suspension kit in the car, including the mount inserts. I also did a 4 wheel aliment the day b4 this happened. i know the once i get the the quaif i wont have diff problems any more my ? is what about the gears, shafts etc.. is there any thing i can do to strengthen them?

Remember to preload on every run and stronger parts will not be needed. The stock tranny when taken care of will put up to alot of abuse.

Dude get the straight cut gear set from G-force, the long shifter would be another piece to have . After launching with the clutch you will not need ti anymore during the run. It works fine for me.

How much would the set go for? and is the long shifter legal in sfwd?

just use stock gears and preload and you will be fine. straight cut gear are $$$$. they is no real need for them. i belive the gear are not teh weak lin correct me if im wrong but the stock tranny case has way to much flex in it

When i dropped the tranny the part where the shift linkage goes is completely destroyed, so the tranny isn't even reparable. Is it common for when the diff blows it takes the whole tranny with it? i mean case and all

the pin that holds the spider gears together usually comes out and goes through the case. so yea its common

You know your right i didn't check to see if the axel was straight or not . so is it recommended to raise the car higher then stock (if needed) to get the axel straight.

preloading: when you line up to stage, pull the ebrake up, release the clutch just a tad bit so u feel the car drop in the rear but not have the car moving. It's to put a load on the drive train without having the car move and it take a lot of stress off the drivetrain. oh yeah, if my explaination sux search bisches!!
