Someone gave me a 93' LX
Ok someone gave me a 93 LX and so far I had to basically replace all the front end, CV joints, Rotors, everything. As a result I spent about 1000.00 and also replaced starter on it. The car is clean for it's year, but has high mileage, right at 180,000 as of now. But I noticed when I changed the plugs they were covered in oil. I seen the same issue on here with others and wondered what kind of cost we are talking in order to resolve the issue? Also what would happen if you left it as is? Trans. seems fine on the car I just don't know if it's worth the money and time anymore. I know being free and all helps and I have to look at it as if I bought it for a 1000.00 but just concerned with the mileage.
If you let it keep leaking into the plug tubes it will only get worse. When it reaches high enough on the plugs it will start to short them out (engine will run real bad). The seals under the valve cover may not be the problem. If you look down the plug tubes (with a flashlight) you will see another seam down under the valve cover. This is where the o-rings are (under rockerarm assy).
You can try to change just the valve cover seals first. If that doesn't stop the leaks read this thread it explains how to, and what you need to change the o-rings. Good luck.

One more question when I pull the wire plugs out they have no oil on the it's just around the part that threads in, is this still an issue? And will this cause the car to idle rough?
Sooner or later it will get to that point. It will deffinately not get better by itself. The valve cover gasket is easy to change, along with the sparkplug seals. When you change that it will be easy to see the next seam, under rockerarms when you look down the tubes. I think your problem will be the o-rings, but hey try the valve cover seals first.

Oh, I almost forgot. Do not overtighten the little acorn nuts that hold the valve cover down. They only require 7lb ft of torque. If you tighten them too much you will snap the studs, and add another problem.
replacing that gasket is no big deal!...
i just got a new gasket and a tune up with msd modified etc etc... and i want to add a new look to my valve cover!!!
