Default ARRC Results

Provisional results are now posted at the ARRC website. http://www.arrc-online.com

Congrats to Alex Muresan for his win followed by Joe Moser and Kevin Ruck. Moser sets a new track record of 1:42.054. The track was reconfigured in T10a this year, but his lap time is still flyin'.

Gareth Rebstock takes the win in ITC followed by Vesa Silegren and Scott Fruth. Fruth sets a new track record of 1:49.998!

*All groups have action pending so final results may change.

Bummed to see Colin Botha have problems. Too bad Jon Marhefka didn't make the trip, looks like he could have shaken things up. The CenDiv sure does have some fast cars.

My bad for missing this in the first go around regarding ITB...

Congrats to Justin who wins in the Accord that is now correctly classified in ITB as it should be.

Did anyone note the 3rd-place finisher? Peter Keane. Some of you may know that Peter suffered a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down and brought about an abrupt end to his racing at the time. I had the opportunity to talk to Peter at the ARRC in 2001 where he turned his Accord over to Randy Pobst (who still holds the track record) and found someone who very much had a passion for auto racing. Congrats to Peter for his podium finish at his return to the ARRC as a competitor and who, by the way, turned the fastest race lap.

Alex is the man. He owned the Pro-IT until the car broke and owned the ARRC.

Bowie went from DFL to 3rd in A during the Pro-IT. What a drive. He passed me like I was on 2 cylinders.

The start of the Pro-IT racxe was instane. I have great vid if some1 would host. IM plez.

Scott was leading C at about lap 10 when he went off in 10 and beached the car.

Zsolt made too many changes to his car and just could not come to grips with it.

What happened to Bowie? I don't even see him on the list for the ITA sprint.

Good job to Justin in ITB, second time out for the car. Got to be better than hit on lap one at the runoffs.
Do not know Peter, but congrats.

Bowie pitted to have a plug wire reconnected and lost some time but his drive was crazy-fun to watch.

That Botha dude hit Greg Amy in his rear bumper enough times that, as I heard it, his battery came loose and caused a short, shutting off the car. That's not firsthand info though - the battery issue, anyway. I saw two of the better hits myself.

The only thing I saw that I was very opposed to was the corner workers on turn 5. After the ITB/ITC race on saturday a deep groove formed after the rumble strips and several cars got airborne and several cars slid across the track. I believe the workers should have swept at least some of the gravel back into the groove, it was EXTREMELY unsafe!

A spec Miata got 3 feet of air as did an ITA CRX. Very scary stuff! I'm honestly shocked no one was seriously hurt.

My car no longer looks like this.
A Spec Miata (go figure) checked up in front of Renee for no apparent reason in turn 12 today. She took evasive action but got hit in the right rear by Ed Ho and turned straight into the inside wall. The car bounced off that wall and crossed the track and hit the other wall. Ed apologized, but it was in no way his fault. He'd already gone 2 in the grass trying to stay off of her, but when someone does something unexpected, in traffic, in turn 12, very bad things happen.
Naturally Mr. Miata Pilot took zero responsibility for the incident. He claimed a "toe-out" issue that resulted in erratic handling.
Oh... Well... That makes it OK.
Last time I checked "Responsible Racing" included being able to pilot your car at least somewhat predictably.
Christian has in-car video. He can share it if he wants to.

Anyway, my car is totalled. We are now full time autocrossers.
I'll either part it out or sell off the wreck as a whole. I'll start the post mortem and make decisions this week. Nevertheless, we're done.
We've been contemplating selling and getting out of the game for financial reasons, and this makes the decision for us.

Renee is fine. Sore and pissed, but fine. Unfortunately she can't manage to stop apologizing for something that wasn't her fault, and I feel bad because she feels so awful about it.

BTW - Get a H/N Restraint. Had she not been wearing an Isaac its easy to imagine that she might have been injured. Maybe severely. It was an extremely hard offset front hit. As of right now her neck isn't even sore, but pretty much the entire rest of her hurts in a big way.
BTW2 - Get a good cage. The car is mashed on 3 corners. The entire front end is demolished, but the caged area of the cockpit is totally unmolested. Kirk Racing custom 8 point cage did its job.

As for my weekend... I qualified under the existing track record and still started 5th. Thats right, 5 cars qualified under the record.
I managed to work my way up to first but I got a little optimistic about my braking in turn 10a and blew the corner. I tried like hell to power through the gravel trap but I came up about 3 feet short. I watched the last half of the race from behind the worker bucket.
Nobody's fault but mine. It wasn't even a matter of running out of talent. It was just stupid. The definition of "Throwing away the race."

Without doubt our worst motorsports weekend ever.
I guess these things just happen sometimes.

PS - To Punky Muresan. His win in ITA was one hell of a drive. I think the NASCAR guys call that "Gettin' up on the wheel."
Then he and Puckett won the enduro today.
An extremely impressive performance given the quality of the competition.

Damn Scott, sorry to hear that. Glad Renee is ok. New cars can be built, can't say the same for redheads.
