Default I have a problem with my cv boot

well i was trying to do the upper ball joint, then all of a sudden the cv boot got really steached out, i tried everything ecept taking out the cv boot, i tried to put it in drive with the engine off and neutral. i think i may have pulled it out of its slides, so now i need to know how to put it back in. so if anyone knows on how to do cv boots, please walk me through the steps.

i am assuming u r talking about the inner boot correct ??? remove the axle from the car ,,it will make the job easier,,
you need to remove the boot band, pull the boot back, line up the spider gears on the shaft to go into the socket part , put boot back on, put some grease in there as well., put new band ..,,all done

Take the instructions deserthonda gave you and combine it with this illustration link. What you'll be dealing with is #5, what is refered to as a Tripot Joint (Because of the Three (Tri) large needle bearing supported *****. They slide in and out during normal operation to compensate for changes in required axle length. In effect they over traveled (popped out).
