Default bumper light mod

ok i read alot about trying to make the bumper lights stay on and blink at the same time. i went out to the junk yard and jacked me some socket bulbs(dual figment) and i wired it up to the corner lights and the bumper lights BUT it doesnt blink. it will only stay on. i wire the red/black wire wit the corner lights from the socket bulb and it comes on but it doesnt blink when i connect the green wire wit the bumper lights. anyone can help me?? or have a DIY forum about this???

If you haven't a 12v test light, you're doomed in this field.

The dual socket has three wires coming from it.
1) Power for the Low Intensity Filiment (Parking Lamp)
2) Power for the High Intensity Filiment (Turn Signal)
3) Common Ground for both.

The wiring for (1) and (3) remain the same
The lead for (2) taps into the power side of the flashing corner lamp.

Yup, he wants to go from a parking light function, to also include the turn signal as well.

Ok, so you have a 96 which means that normally, your bumper lights blink but do not stay on, your corners stay on but do not blink correct? So you jacked a Dual Filament socket, wired one of the wires to your current bumper wire and the other wire to your corner light wire, and it's still not blinking? Did you check the contact point in the socket? It could be corroded or non-useable. Obviously the black is the ground so you ground that to either the current ground wire or to a metal contact point on the chassis, and just test the other 2 wires to see which one uses the higher of the 2 filaments. I don't see why you should have a problem with this unless like stated before, the contact points are obsolete.

off hand i'd say you tapped into the wrong line on the corner lamp

make sure you tapped into the turn signal lamp. and 2nd make sure you tapped into the positive, not negative, of the lines

not to insult you, but is the bulb working? have you tried to test both filaments?

I just did this to mine this weekend and I had no problems.

green to green
red to parking lights
black to the black wire.

From the pic it looked like you didn't have the green wire connected and that is why it will not blink, seeing that is the power wire for the blinker.

Also do what was said before about checking the bulb or better yet just go and buy two new bulbs considering that they are only about $5 at your local auto parts store.

Be sure that you solder and tape those connections and run the wires away from any moving parts.

I will have to take some pictures of mine and post them up here in the next day or so.

You can PM me if you need any more help.
