just revved my jdm D16a to 8k
had to pass someone ..dropped it into 3rd gear and the revvs went way up to 7k..i had to keep on the throttle bc a car was in the other lane and i hit 8k for about 1 second. motor has about 35k miles on it. Do you guys think my HG is toast?

The headgasket should be allright, lets just hope you didn't spin a muffler bearing.

HEadgaskets don't blow from RPM. IF they did, I would have blown a couple hundred by now in my B16.

haha well my freind over revved his rex and blew his hg..so im just basing this off what happened to him. and it drove ok afterwords but i only drove it for like 5 mins ..my cars slow as **** i was in 5th and i knew if i dropped to 4th id go nowhere.
my d15b2 sees 7800rpms on a near daily basis.... But then again I am on my second head and head gasket. both y8 parts.
Moral of the story, if you hurt your engine at 8000rpm, you would know about it.
As for checking the bearings in the muffler, dont waste your time, they usually only go out when you break a power band

LoL.
I drive by a group of people at a bus stop every afternoon. I used to change gears as I went by and the blow off valve would make them jump! LoL.
12 psi of air coming out of my turbo xs RFL is enough to scare some bitches! Hahahaa.

7800 is kiddy stuff my old b16 setup idled at that.
I used to shift at 9200. I had 2 friends accidentally peg the 10k limiter, now they don't ever get to drive it. Recall tachs are a wonderful thing for that reason. The motor held up though. Gotta love crower valve springs and retainers.
