New Oil pump gears for forced induction engine build? h22a
Ive read it is recommended to replace these when doing an engine build however when talking to my mechanic he's said hes never had a problem with faulty gears. Can someone please enlighten me as to a reason for changing them? or like the water pump is it done for a little extra security?
Change the oil pump gears or change the actual oil pump? Any aftermarket pumps or gears available? Thanks

u need a whole new pump
the specs, tolerances and clearances inside the pump are too critical for it to work
i just got done modifiying my D series pump for better performance, but that doesnt mean it will flow more, just better.... the inner tolerances have to be withing 0.002-0.006
u get a set of gears on the aftermarket, that didnt had good quality control, and u have a pump that will be too tight and not work, or too loose and not build pressure properly

A whole new OEM oil pump it is, when I recieve the part I shall look into modifying it or probably just leave it well alone.
Ive heard bad things about the prodrive gear, but may look into the Toda gear later down the line
