I will assume you will only be racing on the track.....Most people here roadrace or auto-x. That is why you haven't gotten a lot of response. Seems to me that the higher rates would help prevent weight transfer better if 1) you can stand them on the street & 2) the shocks you have are up to the task.

thanks for the reply. this is my goal, weekend racer kind'a thing. your right, i will just have to decide how far i can go with the rates, i was just hopeing to hear someone who might know some real numbers, you know, something they use themselves to tell me how they like it.

Ive been using 400 f & 450 R for a while now. Perfectly streetable to me.

I want 500 & 550 now. Dont get AGX shox. They wouldnt hold up to the 450 lb task, so I can imagine higher rates. Look into some Bilstein shox or Koni yellows.

wow 500 in/lb??!! on a light little honda??!!
That sounds like it would rattle your teeth out!

Anyway maybe Im just used to the WRX crowd, where 225 in/lb is considered firm. (and on a 3000 lb car)

****... i think warren is running 600/900 lb springs. The real time ITR guys were running springs 1000-1200 lb/in in the rear i believe.....

those arent street cars or daily drivers though right?

Im about to buy some cusco coilovers, with my only reservation how stiff the springs are. How unbearable is 492in/lb on a daily driver?

No, those are race cars... get the coil-overs, dont worry about comfort (he says as the springs on his saturn are stock, at 125 lb/in.... ) Actually, in all honesty i'd get a few autocrosses and an evolution school done before i'd make major changes to the car... and then you can go back and do the phase 3 autoX school to get the coil overs dialed in

My 400/550 set-up feels fine driving around. Granted I have only driven it:

* Back from the shop
* To and from the alignment place
* To and from one AutoX

There are plenty of idiots who drive around on cut springs riding on the bumpstops. I don't see how riding on a well setup but hard suspension is bad.

Well worth it when you get out on course. I can't wait to get this setup on track in April.
