Default Heater controls don't change from feet to face

I have a 1990 civic si, so I have the slide controls to adjust where the air blows. Just the other day, I noticed that wherever I put it, it just comes out of the face part, did something just get disconnected or what?

One of several things could have happened.

1. The cable connection between the flap and the switch might have broken inside the lining, if that is the case, get a new cable

2. The switch that holds the cable might have come loose and is no longer engaged with the cable

3. The "flap" (for a lack of a better term) that diverts the air has broken in one way or another, it is not diverting the air flow to another portion of the ventilation system.

Homie, go get it checked by a Honda rep otherwise it will be a nasty dash out torn up kinda thing. I did it and nearly killed my car.

Holy **** I got lucky, it was just a disconected linkage that moves the flapper.

You did get lucky, I had a broken cable about a foot behind the switch. I had my dash torn apart for a full day getting it taken care of. I will never do that again.
