Battery Fuse Blown!!! why the diff. between ex fuse and lx,dx fuse?
have you ever been in a hurry and done something extremely stupid, say changing the battery and swap terminals around?
yeah..im a dumbass.
so the battery fuse is now dead in my 96 EX. it takes a 100 amp. the manual calls for a 100 amp on the EX, LX V6 and EX V6..the DX and regular LX get 80 amps.
question #1:
---why the diff between fuses? vtec? surely it cant make that much of a diff.
question #2:
---what woudl it hurt to throw an 80 amp in?
advanced retard auto parts barely knew what a fuse was and most def didnt have what I needed. I have access to a junk accord lx that has an 80 amp fuse. what could be the harm aside from frying the electronics in the car??
seriously, all that should happen is it would only take 80p amps to blow it instead of a 100, thus making it blow easier?
right or wrong?
help a dummy out plz.

True, if the 80 amp fuse will plug in and hold, I don't see the problem. Never hurts to try. If the fuse pops, your car won't start.... then you'll know you need the 100

nice technical post, keep up the good work
my bet it has to do with perhaps both the vtec, and the added accesories on the EX (moon roof, all power, ABS, etc??). i would get the 100....ive had really bad experiences with using the wrong amperage fuse...........

I would image the higher fuse is because of options. Vtec shouldn't take alot of power, it's mostly mechanical. Try the 80, if it doesn't work, it won't hurt anything.
i called dhonda today to find out how much the fuse woudl cost. 11.00. not bad.
i also asked whyt eh diff between the fuses and thec ars. i was told that it indeed is because of the options on the ex accords..power windows, locks, moon roof, power seats and vtec.
so, there. everything seems fine w/the 80 amp.
