Default HF Manifold Crack fix

Sups guys,

Is it possible to mig weld this HF Manifold to fix the cracking? Would the Harbor Freight cheap MIG welder work for this?

Here's a snapshot: http://www.uploadpixels.com/up...d.jpg

Not possible with a cheap welder, or with cheap wire. To get a weld worth anything would require very expensive nickle wire, and a setup to properly warm up and slowly cool the thing after the weld.

ive had good luck with pre heating the cast part with oxy torch, than weld and keep heat on it but let it slowly cool down

weld around the cracked area first to heat the metal up real hot, ******* burn that thing up, weld the crack real hot with lots of penatration. Then, before it has a chance to cool down, throw the whole thing in a bucket of sand and bury it.

I've welded all sorts of no load bearing cast **** like that

use a rosebud on a torch het the part to about 600-700 degrees, using a arc welder and nickel rod weld it up. I weld cast everyday. but we don't preheat.

wow, i definently would not weld cast with a mig welder.

Oxygen acetelyne and either nickel rod or i personally like to braze. Pre and post heating is very important. Also, for prep with the cast, you have to terminate any cracks with drilled through holes. This stopps the crack from starting again once it is fixed. I also like to do a very deep V with a small cutting disc like a dremel.

Mig causes many more cracks than it is worth. It just doesn't work unless you are a VERY experienced welder, it is simply too difficult.
