hi guys:
i'm a noob here. i know there is a big debate going on installing remote starter in manual tranny. but finally i have decided to go for it. i know the basics. u have to put it in nutreal in order to remote start the car; otherwise some crazy thing would happen. i was wondering if there is such way to install it even though the car is in a gear the starter won't remote start the car. thanks for your help and cooperation.

hmm, im a auto driver myself but wouldnt you only need to remote start the car when you are getting into it after its been parked? and when your parked didnt you put it in neutral and pull the e-brake up?

You set the car in gear if you are on a hill so that in case the ebrake fails the car will not move

hmm, i see, very interesting, i always thought about getting a manual for a daily driver, alot funner than autos.

The way I hear it is. You would have to bypass whatever switch that keeps manuals from starting until you push in the clutch (if your not in the car you can't exactly be holding the clutch down). Then if you ever mistakenly leave the car in gear it will ram into whatever is in front or back of the car (depending on what gear it was in). If the car does keep running after that, you have a runaway car. Very dangerous situation.
so there is no safe way? i mean u just have to be extremely careful and put it in neutral all time. it's not a game guys. cuz where i live, there are lot of hills. and i been used to of putting in 1st gear when i park the car.
You say you are used to putting it in 1st gear. You better break that habit before you hook that thing up and hit that button. The guys with experience on these things (on this forum) strongly advise against remote start on a manual car.
hey:
no offense and not trying to underestimate your intelligence. but i am sure there is a way of installing a remote starter which is NOT meant to installed on a MT. two things i have come to know from hours of search:
1. neutral safety switch
2. do some wiring wtih the shifter that the starter wont start the car if its in gear. ie. when its in gear it won't get the connection.
I got the concept but need some clarification on how to do it. Thanks for everyone's advice and time.

I'm just repeating what I've heard about this. I've also read that it is not good to let a car sit at idle with the heat full blast at cold startup. Why? I think it's because the heater running wide open will make it take that much longer for the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature (taking heat away from the engine to heat the inside of the car). It is also common knowlege that you should start the car and drive normally on a cold day instead of sitting at idle. Did you ask because you wanted to know or because you wanted people to just agree with you? Sounds like the latter. I believe that is why Honda does not include remote start as an option on their cars.
