Drilling through CF hood?

Default Drilling through CF hood?

Anyone have any tips on drillng through a cf hood for hood locks? I was told to use a stepped drill bit but i am not sure.

i put masking tape over where i was drilling and just used 4-5 different drill bits, stepping up a size after each drilling.

get it done professionally..thats my tip...

drilling it wrong can cause it to crack and your gunna hafta be hella good at measuring if you plan to do it yourself...good luck tho..post some pics and some of your methods when your done..

If your hood cost less than $600 it's really just a fiberglass hood with a sheet of soft carbon fiber laminated on top. It's easy to drill and wont crack, but I don't think you should breath in the dust you'll be making.

Yeah but the resin will still crack and chip off in big chunks if not carefull!!!

I drilled through mine and installed locks. Just be EXTREMELY CAREFUL. Go SLOWLY. use masking tape over where you drill and start with a very small size bit and work you up step by step. You can never be too careful when doing this...

use lots of tape around area
if at a possible use a high RPM drill
and NEW BITS only use new ones high quality ones!

use a dremel it will almost melt its way through, use the special drill bit that came with the dremel

Yeah, you'll need a high speed drill to avoid taking off large chunks.
