What gear should I put into my YS1 tranny to get the best gas mileage/top speed?
I recently purchased an 88 CRX Si with a B16 swap with a JDM YS1 tranny and I really like everything about it but.... Since my last car was a 90 HF I am having a hard time getting used to driving on the freeway with the RPMs so damn high. I have heard some different things about the final drive from an LS going into the YS1 and having that solve the problem. I would love to get closer to my old car's 45 MPG... Anyone have any ideas?
ehh... you will get used to the 4k range lol... don't change the final drive though, thats the best thing about the YS1/J1/S1 tranny's (apart form an lsd if you get one) a 4.4 FD is very good for fast acceleration especially since the b16s don't really have much for low end... for me, with cams, my power band exists noticabley from 6k-red line, but not much before 6k, so the quicker I can get there the better, and with my S1 tranny I will stay above 6k the whole quarter mile after I get going in 1st... its good stuff though.
Good to know, however I still would love to get more MPGs; even if I had to sacrifice the acceleration in 5th...
