Default road racing short shifter

anyone know where to buy the short shifters made for autocross/road racing... they reduce the throw by something like 50% but it actually keeps the **** up higher and not on the floor board for an easier reach.....

I believe you are thinking of the Fastline RR Shifter:

http://www.fastlineperformance.com/shifter.htm

However, it doesn't affect the throw...

"Over 2 years in development, the FLP Road Race Performance Shifter provides just that - better shifting. Designed from scratch to be the best shifter possible, it is designed with features unlike any other aftermarket shifter available. From the ergonomic design that just falls into your hands, to the very first ultra-smooth shift, it is clear that this is not just another short shifter. In fact, this shifter was designed specifically to maintain the exact same ratio as the stock shifter. The shifter certainly does not look stock, but the shift feel and throw is 100% like the stock shifter."

One of the H-T vendors, Marcus @ Heel Toe Auto, carries these.

mmm That would be nice when your hands are all over that wheel at 70 mph and need to upshift.

i'm looking at getting this shifter... BUT you should know... the only complaint is that the centering spring gets weak and wont sit between 3-4 like it supposed to. The weight and height of the shifter seem to be the cause.

Really that is interesting that it has an issue like that but it makes sense.

Slow.

I can see about the centering spring not being able to support the weight at the greater height. Solutions might be stronger spring (not fun?), lighter shift ****, bungee cord on either side?

thats what im leaning towards when the snails bolted on. GREAT position which brings the shifter closer to the wheel for easir access no matter if your daily driving, apexing some dope *** corner or roasting 4th gear @ highway speeds.

if any of you guys have ever driven a boosted b-series rex im sure you wished that shifter was in it.

I can see how the bend in the shifter helps for 5th gear shifting (i'm really close to the console in 5th) but wouldn't it sway side to side more in nutral maybe hitting the steering wheel or extending the reach of 5th gear?

That picture of it installed in the Del Sol is the original design (1-piece). The current iteration is a 2-piece design which apparently eases installation, but also gives it adjustable clocking. I think this pic shows the junction of the two parts:

am i missing the point here? if it feels and shifts like stock, why not use the stock shifter? is itthat much higher off the floor?
