i just put a rebuilt b16a in my 88 crx and it ran fine i put 500 miles on it with out reving more than 4g but now i hit the red lined and after that it started maken a weird low pitch slugish noise from the exhaust and i thought it could have been a leak aroung the gasket but i have no idea can any body help me asap would like to get it back out on the street also i think i lost a little power and vtec got alot louder than normal and it sounds like it is skiping or jumping like my cluth is sliping but that is new too im so upset someone help me PLEASE

 

sluggish sound is not descriptive enough buddy. does it mis fire?? what are the characteristics??? please tell me more. i can give you my number and I can listen to it and I will tell you.

 

like it sounds like a fart or some thing but it only sounds like it when its in gear but in nutral it sounds fine but any help would be nice

also it kinda sticks if you can get my drift like it fells like a brewak but im still moving and its pissing me off

 

Check you're dizzy/ignition coi/igniter/spark plugs/spark plug wires, also you're timing. Make sure you're throttle cable is adjusted right and is not stickin, i heard people should use a 90/91 integra throttle cable with b16a swaps.

Yeah like you're timing, maybe you got water in the motor, who knows. If it seems slower and it's poppin and **** then don't drive it.

 

im not driven it it has power still but i think it might be my tranny any other options like but the whole motor runs fine but it dont pop like a vavle and it dont smoke at all but the exaust sounds alittle weak and it sounds like it would if you wear to pump your gas at in 5th gear at a slow mph its really weird i dont know and it is pissin me off

 

I really think you have either you're timing off, or you have water in you're motor. I had the same problem one time where it was off a little bit AND had a little water in the motor, and it kept makin that skippin pop sound you are tryin to describe.

 

yea my exaust was un hooked but my check engine light goes on a 65 mph i think that is timming what do you think
