Default JUNKYARD H22

Ok I have the opportunity to get an H22 from a junkyard (not sure how many miles yet, def. will look into). The guy told me he would sell me the motor and ecu and harness, etc. for 750. What are everyone's feelings about this...

BTW I think I can get just the motor for 500 and upgrade the ecu, etc.

U better buy it w/ the ecu than get it later. It's hard to get a matched ecu...

Well I think it has some kind of warranty but I really want to know how many miles are on it. This guy doesn't know H22 from F22. He's one of those old guys that's strictly American built cars.

1. So what kind of prices are reasonable when comes to H22 engines.
2. How much is a tranny swap otherwise I have to buy a new car.

hahahahaha awesome! 750 bucks is an awesome deal, see if the ****** runs before you pull it out though, if it starts up and runs decent, then its a great deal. You can always part it out and make a lot more then 750 anyway, ether way you can't lose.

Buy it. You could do a total rebuild and still end up spending less than a full swap from somewhere else.

Yea, if it's in the car, start it up. If if does not start there are tons of little things to do to see how it could run, like pulling the plugs, compression check, leakdown test etc.

If the motor is not in the car again try pulling the plugs and checking them out, see how the motor once ran. Also, try looking for possible leaks, spin the crank with plug in etc.

If you need a tranny hit me up.

Edited: to make better sense. Makes mental note to make more sense and be CLEAR hahaha.

How do you plan to compression check if it's not in the vehicle??

The price is really cheap, it's a good deal even if it has 175k, for that price... they probably think that's just another honda engine.

Spin the crank by hand for the compression check. Not hard to do.

Also, as far as the warrenty, most junk yards will sell you the part and NORMALLY if the part fails within 30 days, they'll take it back and refund you. Again, I said NORMALLY.

Like I said in the edit it wasn't making sense what I said, I clarified what I was attempting to state. I think HondaMike understood it, but you didn't, so I clarified.

Simple point here is that 750 is a good deal on a H22. Quick things can be done to check if the motor is likely to be in good condition or not.

You dont exactly need fuel or ignition, just hook a battery charger up to the starter. haha, now as stupid as that sounds, I learned that at school.... lol.

sounds like a good deal to me as well. you can replace the parts with performance parts and replace minor stuff and still come out on top. my h22 cost 1850 but it was running and came with the auto tranny. your getting yours for less than half what i paid and i still have to upgrade to performance parts which will cost me as much as the whole swap did itself.
