i'm lookin to turbocharge my s2000.... i was just wondering what kind of setups you guys have ... and your quickest quarter mile times.... boosted or not. thanks for your help.
take a look at the latest speed magazine they do a s2000 comparison. I think Step Papadakis got a 12. something. I did a 13.3 with turbo.
not one of these again....
people have made it into the 11's with turbo... have it at that... and it would probably be in 10's if it wasn't for traction problems and bad 60ft times...

11.1 is the fastest i believe. I don;t know why people don't think the S is a good 1/4 mile car. It's more equipped for the 1/4 mile than a civic.

Because saying that is like saying its a good 1/4 mile car because its faster in the 1/4 than a Dodge Caravan Town & Country...Civics were not made in any way, shape or form to be anything outside an economy car...people build them for drag racing, but they have alot of things against them. The S2000 was also not engineered or built for 1/4 runs...whcih is why alot of people have problems with their rear differential, because drag racing puts alot of direct abuse and strain on the rear diff...especially under heavy launches (and alot of them)...the car can hold its own in the acceleration catagory, but when you think about cars that are "good" drag racing cars (domestics primarily)...you understand why its not considered a "good" 1/4 mile car.

I guess the civics equipped with dohc vtec engines pulling 100hp/litre had nothing to do with performance right? grocery getters with double wishbone suspension all the way around...including stock lsd. Oh wait that's Japan, where the civic is originally from. Why arent they all equipped with d15b7 powerplants? And why is the civic del sol is classified as a sports car by insurance companies?
but yeah, drag racing sucks *****.

^^^ Do you really want to argue details? Because i will...no problem.
For starters, the Del Sol (which is hardly a civic outside the name and some shared componants) is ONLY considered a sports car because it has a targa top and 2 seats. Thats it...theres no special formula to it...its a simple matter of the top coming off and the only seats in the car being for the driver and passenger...hell, the BMW 318ic is considered a "Premium Vehicle" but if you've ever seen inside or driven one, you'd argue that its just as much an economy car as a basic Civic EX...no power, small interior, no amenities, and very basic drivetrain...but it is still considered a "Premium Vehicle" because it has a BMW logo on it, and it was made in Germany.
Now onto the civic matter, i was speaking on usdm models, but since you want to go worldwide, the Civic Si (usdm), Civic Type-R, Civic Si-R and various other models all over the world that are equipped with the DOHC VTEC platforms are all fine sports inspired cars, i never argued that...i never argued that Honda didnt impliment some sports tuning into their little economy cars...but thats the bottom line, the cars are economy cars with sports inspired componants...alot of companies do that. But even with the suspension upgrades, engine platforms, hp/litre #'s, tranny setups and so on and so forth...the point still stands, of all the things the Civic car WAS built for, it surely wasnt drag racing...if anything it was road racing (which nobody but me has even mentioned in here...including yourself).
Can the Civic be a fast sports car? Nope...it will never be a sports car. Can the civic be a fast CAR? Absolutely...in fact, it can be built to be a VERY competant performance car...but not a sports car, because a sports car in essence is a car built purely for sports functions...a performance car is a car built to perform, ANY car can be a performance car...but a sports car requires things that a civic just doesnt possess...and one of the biggest things is its front wheel drivetrain...but it doesnt need anything else, because it works with its FF setup...
Not to be rude or anything...btu we could go on for days about this, and i think ive made my point quite clear, i have nothing against civics being performance cars, my points were that a civic isnt designed or engineered for drag racing (and for that matter, neither is the S2000)...

bored at work hypnosis?
as far as the drag ques, any car can be made into a good drag car. it just costs money. the amount it takes to get a civic in 01-11's is alot more than it would cost a mustang owner. anyone see the 1400+hp Scion, strictly drag?
to answer the original question:
13.3 with Intake and 4.77 FD

I was simply making a comparison between HONDAS. Anything can me made for drag racing. All i was saying was that S2000's have more potential for drag racing than Civics.

I was just speaking on the comment you made that you couldnt understand why people thought blah blah blah...no big deal, i was just stating, the car was never engineered for drag racing...but ive said my piece...

Let me put it this way.
Price for a used Civic hatch: ~$2000.
Price for a used S2000: ~$20,000.
You can get either for less or more, depending on where you are, good deals, etc.
Which would you rather start with? Personally, if I was going to build a car for drag purposes, I'd go with the Civic hatchback. Why? Cheaper. Lighter. Gut a Civic hatch all to hell and it can weigh ~2000lbs. Gut an S2000 all to hell and, well, it's still going to be a lot heavier.
The S2000 is a great road racing car. I'd rather keep it that way, but I guess that's just personal preference.

Yeah S2000 is a better drag racing car then a civic but it willd defeat the purpose of honda engineering. I say you just get basic mods and go track your car, I dont see the enjoyment by going in a straight line. I rather spend more time turning on a road coruse then just go straight. I rather get a supra for 1/4th =P. Upgrade the turbo make it 1000hp then your good to go!
