Only hearing from one person that ran an open header, you should gain some mid range torque, but lose on the top end. My theory is that the reduction of loss from the backpressure causes a torque increase, but the top end exhaust tune you lose when you remove the header causes a top end loss. Being it's a B18B1, it doesn't have an aggressive top end as a VTEC head has, so who knows. I'm curious to know how a B1 sounds in that fashion, myself.

not an expert or anything but from my research i have learned that the goal with exhaust is the fastest exhaust velocity and that depends on the size of your motor, exhaust piping and restrictions (cat) you might be better off bolting on a 3-4foot straight 2.5 pipe or whatever is recomended (search and ull find out) that should increase your exhaust velocity

what is exactly open headers? like just taking the headers off or disconnecting the exhaust right after the header?

It's a really annoying sound. From watching friends, it seems like it helps a bit. It seems unsafe though. What if something gets sucked into the block?

It's not worth the time of removing and replacing the exhaust. Plus you'll be having hearing problems by the end of the night.

My car has been open header for like a month and a half now. That **** sounds mean!!! After a week or so it gets very very annoying!! Plus all the blue light attention you get!! It sucks! It is fun however to get next to someone with there windows down, and drop that bitch in second at 55mph. You can watch people's necks break when it scares the hell out of them. Open header VTEC cracks loud *** expletive, and it scares you the first time!!! It does make a difference though, I can feel it pull a little harder. Also, cars I used to just beat, I can now stomp! So I know it helps out. My exhaust is broken, so it's not like I'm open header on purpose. I just ordered the parts to fix it, so it'll be quiet again in a few days!!

haha..you cant suck anything into the exhaust...

but open header will probably yield a few tenths faster..but since its your first time, dont bother as you will be getting faster every time you go down the track..

wait untill you hit your cars plateau, and then try modding your car and see how much faster it gets
