Default ticking from the crank pulley

over the last two weeks or so i have heard a ticking noise that has gotten progressively worse...thought it might be my valves but no its not it. it seems to be coming from my crank pulley. Has anyone else's crank pulley began to loosin over time? my car has 158,000 and i have never touched the crank pulley. im gonna hit it w/ the impact gun this weekend when i get my tools back from my buddy.

I'd skip the impact gun and hit it with the torque wrench instead.

It could be your oil pump that's ticking (right behind crank pulley), do you have an oil pressure gauge installed? If so, how's it reading?

nah i dont have an oil pressure guage hooked up, i kinked the line when i was installing it so i never hooked it up. i thought the oil pump was a little higher up. whats the torque specs on the bolt?

the thing is when i look at the crank pulley while the car is on it looks kinda like its wobbling.

the oil pump was replaced back at the 90,000 tune up. well if it does go out im suppose to be picking up a parts car this weekend w/ a motor that has 108,000 miles.

the oil pump is right behind the crank pulley. torque is 181 ft/lbs for the pulley bolt.

definitely check desert's suggestion if the bolt isn't loose.

pry on the ouside part of the pulley , get a big scrwdriver and u can get leverage against the oil pan , and see if the inner part of the pulley where the rubber is moves away for the outer part
