I have a 89 civic dx hatch 1.5 liter motor...does anyone know the engine code name and how easy and costly is it to do rebuild one these motors...mine has 184,xxx miles and it runs ok right now..but i plan keep this car for a while ..thanks in advance..

I believe its d15b2.
Just buy another engine. I wouldn't bother rebuilding unless it holds some sentimental value or something. Rebuilding something like taht would exceed the cost of a used one. I bought my 130HP engine for $500. I also get 30 MPG in town, and 38 on the highway.
O wait, you said 184,xxx? That engine will probably last until 250,xxx if it's properly maintained, IMO.

Agreed, I purchased a used D15B2 with only 90k miles on it for $100. Direct replacement for my 250k mile D15B1, and I don't have to do anything but maintain it.
I replaced the rings and had the head machined ($250 for both), but that is my preference not what had to be done to make it work correctly.
