Default Philly Region AutoX - March 9th, 2002

It was nice meeting all of you yesterday. Even though I'm bad with name memorization I hope everyone had a good time cause I know I did. The weather worked out perfectly for us. Showers in the morning. Dried by the first runs, then it poured after everything was mostly done.

The only complaint I have is the crazy traffic that backs up everytime after the autocrosses on I76. What is up with that?

There were a total of 180'ish which is I think a record for one local event - and to get those cars done by 4pm is just incredible.

Here are some pics: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pi..._all=1&start=1

Thanks for the pics Mike. Woo hoo! Pic number 1! I rule!

All in all, I was really happy with the results. I got 2nd in CSP, which is the best that I could possibly hope to do with a road race car in that class. Of course I was anally raped on PAX, but I don't really care. I beat the Z06s (personal competition), so I'm damn happy about that.

I got the info that I needed in terms of settling the *** of the car down a little, and I still think the rear alignment settings are off. It was okay for an auto-x after the first run (when I dropped the rear pressures and took 1/2 turn out of the rear konis), but it is still too loose for a road course.

Mike said that he saw my rear brakes lock at least once, which means to me that I need to do the proportioning valve, or switch back to OEM rear shoes. I'd rather do the valve though, because I get bad fade with the OEM rears. Hopefully I can find a set up that doesn't lock the rears, but gives me enough rear braking to prevent fade...

Matt,

Don't be so quick to change. A low speed lockup may be just the adjustment you want when roadracing. There's less weight transfer at higher speed hard applications than low (because there's more rapid speed decrease at low speed hard applications than at high)

Regards,
Alan

Well, the last time I had it on a track, they were locking up like crazy. I'm going to Lime Rock in two weeks, and there isn't as much run off room there if they start acting up again. With the time and money that I've put into that car, I'd rather invest in the proportioning valves than risk wrecking it when the *** end comes around under braking.

I'll agree with Alan. You have to remember the short wheelbase of the CRX makes for quick weight transfers and bringing the weight off the rear can make the backend feel really light - compared to a longer car like my Civic coupe.

I will be at FedEx field that day.

supposed to be a huge track. The WDCR has about 13 acres to work with just for the course!

drive safe,

I checked out the website. Are you talking about the novice school set for the 25th of May. I might think about it. You wouldn't have any idea how long it takes to get to the Farm Lot from Baltimore, would you?

I am interested.

thanks for keeping me posted.

drive safe,

aj
