Default AN-R Compact Header Question

I've got it installed as an open exhust right now while I build the rest of the exhaust system and noticed there is an ait leak where the collector meats the straight pipe. The AN-R cones apart at the collector/straight pipe and is held on by a spring.

Since the collector and straight pipe mate to each other (they slide together), am I supposed to weld them so there is no leak or is it NOT supposed to leak?

If anyone knows AN-R's nick here, please let me know and I will write to them directly

I don't know about AN-R specifically, but most "hammer fit" or press-fit headers shouldn't need to be welded. I have a Hytech side exit header which is press-fit and held together by a long bolt, and its not welded and doesn't leak. Perhaps its bent or not sealing the way it should, but they usually don't have to be welded to seal.

andrew is on here... his name is ANR008 (i believe). that slip joint shoudn't need to be welded. are you going to run a flex pipe? you dont want things to be too solid cause that can cause cracks.

Well, yes, it did get scrapped when I had it on a lowered Civic. So what can I do besides weld it? Is there some sort of gasket sealant or hi-temp tape I can use?

Yes, I will be running a 6" flex pipe right off of the straight tube...
