NASA Texas 2005 Season Finale
Sunny, highs in the low eighties, and 31 cars in the Big Bore group, what more could you ask for??? Well for one thing a few more Hondas would be nice. There were only two of us, Trevor in his H2 ITR and myself in a H2 Prelude.
The first race on Saturday was a split start with the CMC/AI guys starting a half lap ahead of the rest of the pack. I found a couple cars to play with but overall the race was pretty boring for me.
The second race caught me by surprise as I thought it started later than what it did. I wasn't prepared and I didn't have my car refueled. I started in P5 but by the third lap I was fuel starving and I heard a vibration in the rear. I went ahead and came in and it turns out I hadn't torqued down my lugs and a couple of them were starting to come loose.
On Sunday I got to the track early to make sure my car was properly prepared. It paid off and I qualified in P2 right next to a beautiful Ferrari Challenge 355. I was pretty nervous for the standing start since I suck at drag racing and I knew turn 1 would be crowded. Luckily I got a decent launch and the Ferrari didn't so I had some room to move over in front of him but just as I did a WRX came flying by and beat me to turn 1. I knew I wasn’t going to be any match for the Ferrari so I let him by and tried to keep up with the WRX. On the second lap I was blocking the inside line and went wide on the exit. I almost sideswiped a Factory 5 car coming back onto the track sending him off.. Sorry
I lost another position to an AI Mustang which also passed the WRX so I was in 4th behind the WRX for several laps. On the last lap, the WRX went wide and I was able to pull up to his corner panel but not get by. He went wider at the next corner and this time I made the pass stick. I came in 3rd overall, which was very gratifying knowing how tough the competition was.
I felt a vibration coming back into the pits and knew I had no chance to get it fixed by race 4. Even so I was still very pleased with my race 3 results and have lots of good memories to last the off-season.
This is the first 1 1/2 and last 1 1/2 laps of the 3rd race.
Here is a picture of us lining up for the standing start of the 3rd race.

NICE! I didnt know they did all that at MSR! That is awesome! I am signed up for a drivers Edge event there the 19-20 of Nov.
I would really be interested in maybe coming out and helping for an event or 2
PM me if that would be of help
if nothing else I would like to go watch if you could let me know where to look for event scheduals

Count in another H2 Type R for next year...at least for a few races.
I am in the process of moving to Texas. Fiance and I are thinking of maybe Plano, Arlington, etc.... not really sure.
