Default Removing ABS

I have removed all of my ABS lines, sensors, computer, wiring and unit, in the persuit of non-ABS. I will be installing all new hard lines, along with anything else I need. I have done a lot of searching, but found a LOT of different answers about what you need for the conversion. What exactly is needed for the conversion? I know that I will need a 40/40 prop valve, but can't I just use the GSR master cylinder and booster? I dont see the need for the RS MS, but I've been known to be wrong before. And this is not a street car btw.

You can do it a few ways.

All OEM: Hard lines, prop valve, MC, and booster from a non-ABS RS Integra.
1/2: 2 of the front hard lines and the pop valve from the non-ABS RS. Make the other 2 lines yourself to fit the GSR MC.

Mine is all OEM.

Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks.

I will be bending all new lines, so will just keep the MC.

Some race series require you to disable the ABS, so its then dead weight, and some prefer just not to have it (I dont want it).

post some results when you get done, maybe some pics too.

I'll probably be doing the same with mine. I never liked the feeling of having no brakes in the rain. I just don't like the ABS at all.

Honestly I wouldnt drive the thing on the street without it. Only a few instances where ABS doesnt do its job better than non-abs (for street driving) and I never understood the people who were really into cars not liking it.

The only time I would contemplate taking ABS off would be for track use only, like RJ said.

Oddly enough, Chad is looking for a chassis with ITR type ABS for his next race car.

you can also use a si prop valve and keep the gsr mc but make new lines for the front and bend the rear.

Well, you young ones don't get it sometimes. I've 'really' been into cars for 20 years. When I first started driving, ABS didn't exist so I got used to not having it. Most of my cars haven't had ABS. I don't like ABS on my ITR, I like to feel in control. With ABS the processor is in control, not me. I don't doubt that for most people ABS is great and IVD/RSC is even better...just not for me.

Granted some designs or programming can be improved upon, but to suggest that you can do better under any and all circumstances is frankly idiotic.

You can out brake the ABS in the dry. In the wet.... well it takes a lot more skill than I've got, thats for sure.

Maybe instead of programming ECUs like Hondata I should get into the business of doing ABS and attitude control systems.

I sure wouldn't mind doing the testing ....

why must the master cylinder go if i would remove the ABS? so if i want to upgrade my crx brakes to an ITR setup, would it require abs then?

how much weight do you loos when driving non abs setup?

Not as yet, though I do know the Spoon calipers and BC suspension is still on the car.

zyg, I'm glad you edited your post, it shows some maturity on your part. Just for your information, I test ABS/IVD/RSC brake systems, power steering systems, cooling systems, A/C systems. If the system has fluid in it, I've been involved in it. The testing I do is from the processing side, not in vehicle testing.

Also, in any of my posts, I haven't stated that I can do better than the processor in any and all circumstances, it's simply my preference. I'm an old timer, I like to be the one making the calls when it comes to stopping my car. It's just my opinion, and my preference, I don't see why so many people have to get their panties in a bunch over it.

There will always be internet KIA's that know more than everyone else, and will tell you that you should or should not do something. As long as a street car has brakes that work, I dont see any problems. May not be as safe in the rain, but who says driving is safe in the first place?
