Stock gsr Sleeves
With the success of stock sleeves i'm thinking of going with pistons and rods to hit my desired power goals (400-450whp). What i'm wondering other than a compression and leakdown test how can I know what condition they are in? It's a jdm block so you never know with the mileage (it's suppose to be around 90k-100kms by now~).

it can be hard to tell the condition of the stock sleeves rele. other than compression test and leak-down test, pull the motor apart and inspect the sleeves with your eyes!
Since the block probably has high mileage just send the block to a machine shop to get honed..thats what I did with my ls block..stock sleeves ls/vtec turbo hoping for 400-450whp on c16..made 311 on 12psi so far and motor is running good..
Pretty much what i thought other than ripping it apart you can't really tell the wear. That's what i'm debating right now, pistons and rods on stock sleeves or built block.
Don't go by a visual inspection. When I built my block I talked to several engine builders here on HT. They all said for the best results bore it .5mm over. This will give you a fresh surface for the rings, insure that the bore is round and not egg shaped and the longest possible life.

lets say ur using a stock bore block, stock bore pistons and u bore it .5mm over, it won't effect the pistons/rings in anyway?

Yes it will effect the piston to wall clearance. You will need to step up to 81.5mm pistons and rings if you bore it .5mm over.

I have no doubt in my tuner (evans tuning, aiming for 400-500whp) but if my block is in bad shape i can do nothing about it but sleeve/hone.
