Default Brake booster push rod?

when i push my brake pedal, there is nothing until about 3/4 of the way down.. and when I tried my ABS tonight.. when i slammed the brakes.. the pedall was hitting the floor.. i mean the FLOOR..

can the rod that comes out of the brake booster fix that?

or what is my problem? I just changed master cylinders, and bled the system 6 times.. no more air, unless the MC is bad and holding air.

when the pedal went to the floor, how fast did the car stop? really fast or not fast at all.

Are all brake HOSES in good condition. They may need to be replaced if cracked or pretty old (if ur car is a 92 like ur name says, then i would replace them). Make sure no leaks anywhere..That is all that i can think of.

look for leaks, first

bleeding the system would definatly be the first thing you need to do... if you are unable to do this correctly then just take it to someone that can so you don't misdiagnose your problem

if the problem still exists i would consider it a possibility that your brake lines are just badly worn. stainless lines are less than a hundred bucks and worth every penny, even on a daily driver.... buy some... bleed brakes again.

if you still have the problem look into a new brake master cylinder... they're not too expensive either. bleed system...

if problem still exists then set the car on fire and call the insurance company.

-Erik <--- overlooked replacing calipers merely b/c if they were bad they'd be leaking and you would see that first and foremost

sounds like a bad brake master cylinder. the internal seals will leak causing symptoms such as you describe, but no visible leaks around it. but check you fluid level and look for visible leaks on all brake components first.

When you install a new brake MC, there is an adjustment on the rod that actuates the MC. Sounds like you have too much play between the rod and the MC.
