Default How-To: Peg a Dynapack Dyno

Step 1: Put car on Dyno
Step 2: Turn Boost Up
Step 3: Make too much power

We were recently testing our heavily modified GT40R turbochargers on my car this past weekend at LocashRacing's Dynapack. Unfortunately we werent able to get any good data. Watch the vdieo for info why. (jeff evans is the commentary ARGHH)

that's crazy!! What are the limits on a dynapack? I never though there was such a thing as too much power, oh well.

ill get it on a dynojet soon, they can measure up to 1200whp. We are deep into the 800whp level right now

just a couple minor setup changes with the new turbo and we get 600whp at 20 psi instead of 26 psi, and 700 whp at 30 psi instead of 39 psi. Very little lag, and huge powerband. We've figured out how to make these GT40Rs work

My favorite part was watching Joe freak out every time his dyno computer screen went red!

yah, i love the idea behind the dynos but the 900ft-lbs seems so limiting with today's power level

we pegged a dynojet with a 9L Viper motor we built a while back, at least you can keep pulling and tune the car

My guess is nitrous, injected directly into the compressor housing. LOL!

did you try running it in a higher gear? dynapack is limited by hub tq, if you max it out... just run it in the next higher gear.

the dynapack 3000 will read up to 2400ft/lbs.. if i remember right its around 800ish ft/lbs at the engine with an LS tranny, about 100 less with a b16 tranny

They're also speed limited, right? Can you do a 10k pull in 5th? I'm just asking cause i've never used one, just heard that that's their downfall, being torque and speed limited. What is the speed limit on that model?

i have gone 9500 rpms in 5th on a b16 tranny.. the hub is limited to 2450rpm... so you gota do some calculating to get mph from that.

Actually, the Dynapack 3000 I have will currently handle up to 3500 nm (2581 ft lbs) of torque at the hubs, its that short b16 4th gear that did it.. For some reason, the car shook violently when we tried to use the LS 5th gear, so I'm working with Dynapack to possible raise that limit to 4000 nm (2950 ft lbs) (or 604 ft lbs at his crank) to remedy this situation, as it sure sucks..

The reason his car makes so much power is because it has a hawaiian mechanic.
